OPTION 1: At-Home Paternity Test Kit

At-Home Paternity Tests are very inexpensive compared to in-person Legal Paternity Tests. And they are super convenient since you can collect the samples yourself in the comfort of your own home. However, their main drawback is that they don’t use chain of custody, since the samples aren’t collected by a 3rd party. Therefore, they ARE NOT Court Admissible and cannot be used as evidence in a legal case. The main reason that people buy at-home test kits is for “Peace of Mind“. OPTION 2: In-Person Legal Paternity Test

If you need results that ARE Court Admissible for a legal case like Child Support, Custody, Inheritance, etc., you will need to get a Legal Paternity Test. This will be in-person and will use a Chain of Custody procedure to make sure all parties involved have been properly identified. If you are in the Central Texas area, Morgan Diagnostics can collect the required samples needed for this test using Chain of Custody and send to our accredited laboratory (Alliance DNA) for testing.
